SFO Winds @140deg 25G32... Which Runway?

Sun Dec 15, 2002 12:55 am

Hey everyone,

Just curious all you Bay Area people - winds are SFO on Saturday morning 12/14 are 140 degrees, 25 knots gusting to 32 knots. What runway will plans land and take off at? I can't imagine 28L/R since there is almost a direct strong tailwind!

According to the ATIS (650-877-3585) the are landing on 19R/19L and departing on 10L/10R......typical pattern when a storm front is approaching.

That seems like a very dangerous landing/TO configuration, more so than the regular with how the takeoffs and landings will be crossing each other at a much higher speed.

How More Dangerous?

How is landing 19/departing 10 more dangerous? More dangerous than what?

In any case, as Mr Silagi said that's the usual pattern in rainy weather.
