Not much.

Qantas introduces the 747ER.
Virgin flies the A340-600.

My first flight with a no-frills carrier (Buzz, not bad).

Thats it on the positive side, and Highlights are positive.

Not a very exciting year on the Australian aviation scene, but here goes:

- The arrival of Qantas' first A330 aircraft
- Australian Airlines is reborn
- Possibility of Singapore Airlines setting up an Australian carrier
- Qantas' proposal to purchase a slice of Air New Zealand

The A346 was my highlight last year, watching the loading and unloading trials up close from the tarmac after the inaugural landing in FRA in October 2001.

My highlight this year is a little bit less spectacular...:

The wide-spread arrival of quality low-cost carriers in Germany (germanwings, Hapag-Lloyd Express, DBA). Finally, flying just for fun has become affordable in my home country too!  Big thumbs up

I think like everyone else, it was the arrival of the A340-600. My personal highs were travelling VS Upper class back from SFO and probably me last ever trip in a 737-200 from Prestwick down to Stansted.

American retired it's last B727 aircraft on Apr 30th. I flew on the very final flight TPA-MIA as flight AA765, the registration of the aircraft was N864AA.

The Boeing 767 is 20 years old.

In Brussels:
The new Sabena, SN Brussels Airlines, is born. A brand new terminal is opened at Brussels National Airport, it's the new concourse for Schengen flights (flights within the European Union).

My #1 moment is the same as Haveric's, first time elite and youngest elite in the Kunz family history.
Other moments are the 777-300ER rollout and the introduction of Pan Am (short lived) to HPN.

The announcement that a new low cost airline is to start operations from LBA.

The introduction of the A346 into the fleet at VS and that we have begun to expand again, also opened the new hanger at LHR too.

Construction of T5 at LHR finally begins.
