Westjet Fitting 737-200s With NG Interiors?

Wed Dec 18, 2002 6:00 pm

G'day all,

While looking through some cabin views, I came across this photo:

It says it is a 737-2H4 (Ex-WN), however the interior looks alot like a 737NG to me. Is this a mistake in the caption, or have Westjet fitted new interiors to their 737-200s?

Cheers,

V/F

I noticed the same and wondered too.
I would rather suspect an error...

check the window gap on the starboard side, only the 737NG have this gap!
Also the emergency exits look like those "flip-up" exits used exclusively on the 737NGs, so it's obvious that this can't be a 737-200!

Not Just Mario. I noticed that the Galley is not the WN style Galley. Also, Mario is right with the emergency exits. This Galley has lights that go throughout the whole galley, and the 2H4 has just one fixture.

This is probably a shot of one of the leased 800s? Just going by the colour of the seats.....

It's only a mislabeling of the photo. It is a 737NG. I can tell by the galley and the shape of the roof. There's no way that We took an old 732 (which is going to be phased out in a couple of years anyways) and ripped the entire interior out to make it match a 737NG. The guy who labeled it got it wrong.

but I guess they fixed it. it shows tail 009 now.

If any one has any questions such as this. I 've been working in the airline for almost 4 years and for a Stores guy, I know a bit of everything about our planes. I've worked in Calgary and now in Hamilton, making the occasional trip to deliver stuff to YYZ..

Hangar Cat,

How's the Hangar coming along in Hamilton ? Any rumours of a flight crew base there in the near future ?

Hangar? What hangar? Seriously.. From what I know, WestJet isn't allowed to call it our hangar because the former owners of the land haven't signed off on it. You can probably see the big sign out on Airport Road saying future home of ACE (All Canada Express).. So logistically it's not our hangar...

But really, it's coming along fine, slowly but surely, the cement's been laid down and last time I saw they had the posts up for the steel beams. the land has been laid out for future expansion already..

As for crews based out of YHM, Everything is based out of YYC in the way of crews and training and such. The corporate side likes to keep things close to home so as not to dilute the culture... I'm sure once we start having more flights starting out East (like Halifax and in the future possibly St John's or Gander or other maritime cities) it's is going to be a logistical nightmare to have all the crews positioned in YYC so some crews would come out of the East... why not from WestJet's Hub in YHM?....

I'd love to see a bigger presence of WestJet at YHM. Right now the maintenance side is crammed into a tiny hangar beside the airport that's like 50 years old. A nice maint hangar will raise WJ's profile in YHM and make people realize that We are a big presence in YHM and we're bringing more people in than they'd ever seen. WestJet brought the Business to Hamilton and the airport ought to give us some props.

Peace,
