Alliance Air To Add ATR 42's

Fri Dec 20, 2002 8:30 pm

Hi Guys ,

Just read this in todays newspaper . the ministry of civil aviation in India has announced that Alliance Air would be getting ATR 42's for their hub and spoke operations . These were earlier being operated by Dornier 228's . Initially the aircrafts would be leased . Dunno how much of this is true though , upgrades have been planned for all the airlines for ages but nothing seems to have happened so far . Anyway , keeping my fingers crossed.

Regards

The first aircraft have allegedly already been delivered to Alliance Air in CCU and will commence operations on December 25. The aircraft will be based in CCU and GAU and service routes to DMU, DIB, IXA, IXS, AJL, IXI, IMF and TEZ. Inaugural service is supposed to be CD 7241 on December 25 operating CCU-GAU-DMU-IXA-CCU.

Hope they maintain it better than those dorniers. The dornier has already claimed lives due to shoddy maintenance by Indian Airlines and the court of Inquiry on the Cochin crash I remember came down heavily on inadequate and poor maintenace practices and cited it as contributing to the crash.
I hope this aircraft is not going to be based in DMU by Alliance Air in their infinite wisdom (the one that crashed in COK was based in all places at AGX).
And the incident of the A300 crashing into the wall at DEL last year has in no way enhanced the IC maintenace image.

These routes were NEVER operated by Dorniers.

The Dorniers were/are servicing Tourist destnations in the North and south like Kulu, Simla, Dharmshala and Goa and Lakshadweep in the south.

The NE was served by Fokker F27's and HS748's by Vayudoot and later by Alliance 737-200's.
