I believe that the last Caravelle in active pasenger service was with Gabon Express, but my limited investigation suggests that service is no more- the carrier may not be around, either. They used to advertise Caravelle flights to aviation enthusiasts on their website, but the website is gonesville.

See the archived website (with a great photo of the Caravelle) at:

I hope one of our colleagues from Africa may be able to fill us in.

I had the privilege of flying on a Caravelle (ex-Alitalia) in Ecuador, December 24, 1977, Guayaquil to Quito. Fine ride.
...three miles from BRONS, clear for the ILS one five approach...

Was the Caravelle operated by TAME? I flew on it 2-3 times in 1978-1979.

The last Colombian Caravelles (in cargo service with L.A. Suramericanas and Aerosucre) have been scrapped last year after a crash of their sibling in January 2001.
In Africa, Waltair of Congo (Kinshasa) still operates one Caravelle. It is able to carry passengers (sort of combi configuration) but passenger tickets or schedules are not known of, I presume its mainly used to carry staff and cargo for mines, businesses or military or so.
The former Gabon Express Caravelle is not seen for a year but reported flying cargo around the Congo and Angola area.
So these two are the only Caravelles which have been flying in the last months.
In Sweden Le Caravelle Club tries to restore an ex SAS/Sweden Air Force Caravelle and offer pleasure flights but I must admit I don't believe it till I see it fly.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

Hi Servaas!!! welcome back!

sad news about tis caravelle. I didn't like the news my friend gave me when he searched every inch at LBV airport. So, the dream of flying this bird is now gone forever.

Brgds and best wishes for the seasons

That is an amazing picture at the link Sccutler gave us. The nose on that plane is incredibly sleek and the triangular widows very unique. Did anyone find out who is flying the former Gabon Express Caravelle?
