Airlines Losing Pax's Baggage Every 90sec

Tue Dec 24, 2002 7:20 am

According to a survey that was unveiled last week, airlines worldwide lost 1 piece of passenger's luggage every 90 seconds.

In Asia-Pacific region, airlines paid a total of USD$125million of compensation for losing baggages.

Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region transported nearly 400 million luggages per year, but 1.5 million of them are missing. Airlines usually per USD$83 per lost luggage, and they might ended up "losing the passenger" as well.

We only lose one every 90 sec? We aren't doing so well. I think for the next year, we need to increase to one every 45-50 sec!  Smile I think there are a lot of ways that bags could be electronically tracked and all that but I don't see much of it done and I don't see a whole lot of initiative to increase it. Oh well.

It may seem like a lot of luggage is lost however if you look at the percent of bags lost to bags's only .375% lost one has a .375% chance that their bag will be question this mishandled or totally lost?? There is a big difference, mishandled is bags that just didn't arrive at the same time the passenger did, while lost bag means the bag is gone...
