How To Book An Alitalia Flight?

Sat Dec 28, 2002 11:45 pm

Hi,

I just tried to price a flight from LHR to MXP next summer on the Alitalia UK website and it comes up with a rather good price.
But then in the fares rules it says that you need a UK registered credit card in order to pay.
As I as a German resident of course do not have a UK registered credit card, I wonder how I can book a flight from LHR to MXP ?
On the German Alitalia site you can only book flights originating in Germany afaik.

Anyone knows more about this ?

Thanks,
B737-700

Try to book on the .it site, there you don't need to be Italian resident.

Thanks for the info !
But this site doesn't price it at all after I selected the flights. Too bad.

A question not related to Alitalia, but to British Airways, British Midland and Aer Lingus.

I have to book a flights on those 3 airlines this summer, not originating in Brussels. Do those websites have restrictions like only a UK billing adress or so?

The EI flights are MAN-DUB-SNN-DUB-MAN, the BA flights are BRU-LHR-BRU and LHR-MAN-LHR and the BD flights LHR-FRA-LHR.

Thanks,
Frederic

If you have a profile at the LH InfoFlyway, you can book it there.
I just got a quote 75 + 18.60 GBP

Unfortunately British Airways, for security reasons, will only accept credit cards that are issued from your country of departure at www.ba.com.  Sad sorry!!

Hi,
since you're living in the UK, you're probably having a bank account there, if you do so try to book it with your debit card(Switch/Solo)

BD asks 79£... I hope that I don't need an English billing adress???

Hello Britair,

Does this mean that I can't book LHR-MAN-LHR on BA??

Frederic

Thanks folks.
About Opodo. Imho they absolutely suck !
They come up with ridiculously high prices. The AZ flight is 6 times as expensive as on the AZ website !
Then it doesn't find certain flights at all. A masterpiece of rubbish.

Hi Frederick!

I have found a way around it for you at www.ba.com!!

If you are actually flying BRU-LHR-BRU and LHR-MAN-LHR in the one trip, then you can book it as one itinerary (i.e. BRU-LHR-MAN-LHR-BRU) it will (hopefully) price as two separate returns giving you the cheapest fare but in the one booking. That way, BRU is your origin and therefore no problem with UK credit cards etc.

The way to do it is on the first page of www.ba.com, before the booking section there is "Book One Way and Multi City"......click on that. Then the next screen use BRU as your origin and MAN as your destination and LHR as your stopover....and go from there!

Hopefully that should work!!  Smile

If you need any more help let me know!  Smile

Cheers.

I'll give you an advice, instead of all those problems, why don't you book a Ryanair flight fron STN to BGY?

There are no credit card problems and you'll pay less for sure.....

Hi B737-300,

well opodo.de is not as bas as you think. The Ailitalia roundtrip LHR-MXP-LHR wil cost you € 178,- incl. all taxes and fees.

I've booked two times a flight on their website, and it was nowhere cheaper than there... it was HAM-LHR-EWR-LHR-HAM for € 350,- and HAM-FRA-JFK-FRA-HAM for € 300,-

What ever happened to calling a travel agent? Isn't time money anymore, or do most people have nothing better to do. Bar none, travel agents will ultimately be your best bet. Remember they also have internet.

I happen to be one. I have heard of people searching for 4 to 5 hours. Wow!!!

For a measly $10 most agents will do all the work for you. We also have access to fares that most people don't.

Hello Britair,

If I do it like you say (I also tried it before), the fare for BRU-LHR-MAN-LHR-BRU is €352. If I book the same flights separate, the fare is €195...

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Regards,
Frederic
