Trans Australia Airlines Museum - Where's It At?

Sun Dec 29, 2002 6:09 am

Does anyone know where the Trans Australia Airlines museum is these days?

They have a website at: http://www.geocities.com/taamuseum/

But their phone number doesn't work, their email isn't answered.

I called QANTAS Public Affairs, and they have never heard of it. All they did was give me the number of Hawdon Operations, and they didn't know either.

The QANTAS Museum also doesn't know anything about a TAA museum.

So am I to assume that the TAA Museum has closed down, or does someone out there have info for me?

Cheers

It was never a "museum" of sorts, but if it's the one that I think you are thinking of, it was a group of ex TAA veterans that were given a small area of space on one of the floors at the old TAA head office in Franklin Street, MEL. Contained just some bits and pieces and was only ever "open" once or twice a week for a couple of hours.
Your post rang bells - I think I recall seeing something about them being kicked out of there because QF needed the floor space, but this was some time ago and it may well be something else entirely I am thinking of.
By the same token, I also seem to recall something about this group getting space at Point Cook or Essendon.
Basically I can't help you, but maybe this will ring bells with others as well and we may get a result !!!
