Any A300 Lovers Out There?

Mon Dec 30, 2002 5:56 am

Flying AA A300 to Miami this week. Don't know much about this bird, other than the tragic accident at JFK. What do people think about this aircarft? Any big fans? And why?

I am not a big fan but I enjoy flying it. I have flown the classic A300B4 in a domestic flight more than ten years ago and I now usually fly the A300-600R ATH-LHR-ATH because I study in the UK. I really prefer this aircraft over a 737 or any other narrowbody. You should expect to have a powerful takeoff!

Yeah Ive taken the A300-600 from MIA-MBJ, MBJ-MIA and EWR-LHR, LHR-EWR. Its pretty fun. It feels like a Dc-10. You climb real quick in that plane!

Flew AA's A300-600 from MIA - JFK in October - very nice flight - very comfortable - although noticeably less legroom than MRTC on the other AA aircraft I have flown on - but still pretty decent - I would say 32"+ seat pitch or thereabouts.

It was a very smooth flight and the 2-4-2 layout really makes it nice if your flying on your own or in a group - your never more than a seat away from the aisle - much more comfortable than 3-3 or 3-3-3.

Good takeoff too as AA61hvy mentioned - not lightly loaded 757 fast but certainly much quicker than any long haul jet.

Would recommend it (I actually chose the flight because it was on an A300-600 which I'd never been on before) - its a nice comfortable bird and a lot nicer than the usual narrowbodies you get on domestic US flights.

I've always liked it, in fact its the only Airbus jet I like. It wasn't very loud, interesting windows, good configuration. Ive taken it JFK-LHR-JFK and FRA-Cairo-Addis Abbab, Eithopia and return. AA's were nicer then LH's.

I flew more than 10 times with LH A300-600. It's a really nice plane and good configuration with LH. It operates most of the time domestic routes to Frankfurt, for example coming from Hamburg, Munich and Berlin.

Enjoy your flight and a happy new year

I think it is a nice aircraft. For an older jet, it is really quiet.. and flies quite smoothly.. Beautiful plane.. I have no complaints.. though it is not my favourite.

I've flown on the A306 several hundred times in the last 5-6 years (not exagerated...most of my flights on business are intra-German or to the neighbouring countries, and LH uses A306 extensively), and I love it, the best aircraft on shorthaul because it is large, spacy, easy and efficient to turn around and it feels like a big aircraft because it is one!!
Have fun and for God's sake don't listen to those ridiculous A/B-Bashers!!

I know it's only VfB but I like it!
