FAR141 Or 61 ?

I am enrolled in FAR 141 and think it is great for what I want to do. But some of things I noticed is you only gate about 5 night landings one trans. Through B class airspace, and 2 solo cross country. Is this really enough to allow people to fly?? I think that if you do this and just get your PPL you need more instruction like demonstrated in FAR 61 but if you are going on and getting instrument rated it is fine as you will have more experience there. What do you guys think!
