Oh man, I'm flying UA for the first time as a paying pax in 2 years this Friday, and it turns out the cuts are coming tomorrow! No more nasty breakfast burrito on my DEN flight!
• United is eliminating first- and business-class meal service on flights of two to three hours to the USA and Canada outside normal meal hours. Only beverages will be served on flights that aren't during the most popular breakfast, lunch or dinner times.
I never thought United would resort to this. Even AA has snack plates, albeit with the same desserts (milano cookies, etc.) UA has in its economy snackboxes
• On all US and Canadian flights except transcon routes, deli plates or salads will replace hot lunches and dinners in first- and business-class.
Basically, the same things you would get on ORD-DEN and other midcon flights... like the chicken 'put your own together' sandwich... I wonder what will happen to Eli's Cheesecake??
• Coach passengers on the five-hour flights between the West Coast and Hawaii will no longer receive a sandwich.
I'm not sure if the sandwich was the second snack in addition to the main course, or the main course itself...
• Coach passengers on morning flights of two to 3 1/2 hours in the USA and Canada will receive a snack mix instead of a hot breakfast sandwich.
this is the famous/infamous "Breakfast Trail Mix"... I guess the fresh apples/bananas/oranges are gone from the snack boxes too
