China has approved 5 Taiwanese carrier's applications for charter flights from Taiwan to Shanghai during the Chinese New Year.

China Airlines will be the first airline (replacing FAT) to fly Taiwan-Shanghai route.

UNI Air and Transasia Airways will mainly fly Kaohsiung-Shanghai while other 4 (EVA, China Airlines, Mandarin, FAT) will fly Taipei-Shanghai. China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines will make "technical stop" in Hong Kong, the other 4 (EVA, UNI, FAT, Transasia) will stop in Macau.

Transasia Airways has not yet announced the first flight. Other's has been announced.

WTH do CI and its subsidiaries get 2/3 of the flights? Mandarin is wholly owned by CI and FAT are partly owned. I thought President Chen hated them and liked EVA? Hmm, of course the final decision may have been up to Beijing which hates Chen and anything he likes!

EVA Air currently is having plane shortage. So they only fly 1 flights. Because of this problem, EVA is not planning to add any new destinations in 2003.
