The Afghan Government says an attempted hijacking of a passenger aircraft travelling from the city of Herat to Saudi Arabia has been foiled.
An Afghan government minister was quoted as saying the plane was carrying Afghan pilgrims to the Saudi city of Jeddah.

It landed in the United Arab Emirates and the apparent hijacker was arrested.

All those aboard were reported to be safe, according to officials from the Afghan airline.

Ariana airlines is the Afghan national carrier.

I think someone's jumped the gun. Doesn't look like a hijack after all.
