THY Avro with ~77 on board. Down on final approach. Reports from a hospital say walking patients, at least 3 so far, so that's good. Let's hope they're all as good. No reports of fire, so that's good.

Weather said to be very foggy...

EverettWA, where did you hear it was an Avro? The OAG says flight TK 634, from IST, is to be operated by a 737-400.

(Mind you, the fact that there were five crew - as the BBC reported - would tend to push it towards an RJ100; i.e. 2+3).

Guess we'll find out soon enough.

http://www.cnn.com is reporting an Avro RJ100. I, however am not saying they are right, we all know their track record.

It crashed into military territory in Diyarbakir. Accordíng to n-tv, the airport was closed for some time because of bad weather and this plane was one of the first who landed there after it re-opened.

CNN has now issued a new email confirming that it is in fact an RJ100; it also says that there is a baby among the six survivors and that the death toll now stands at 70.

NTV reports there might have been fire inside the plane. Many victims are badly burned, that points to a fire they say.

Sad ;(

Oh my, another TK ARJ lost. Terrible news indeed  Sad . Just why are three out of four ARJ crashes TK´s???
When I first heard the news, I checked the OAG and it said 737-400 - that gave me a rather chilly feeling down my spine, as I had been on two TK 734s just three weeks ago...

Anyway, hope there are some more survivours than early reports suggest.

Turk Hava Yollari has had incidents with other ARJs in their fleet?
Is this one possibly, some sort of mid-air with a coalition sortie?

The reg was TC-THG and there are now 74 people who didn't survive the crash of the 80 passengers and crew.
This is the third aircraft of this type with THY which was written off. The other two are damaged beyond repair in January 1998 at Samsun and the second was dbr April 2000 at Siirt.
Sadly enough this is the first one with victims for THY.
All the best for the survivors and the relatives of the people who didn't survive it.

Reports say the aircraft was on the third landing attempt.
So the passengers were probably already enough scared, how terrible...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's "only" the second Avro crash in history.
THY lost BAe 146's previously.
Ans Crossair lost the all first Avro in ZRH approach back in 2001 I think.

My deepest sympathy to victims, crew and their relatives.  Sad  Sad

I was on one of these TK aircraft (BAE, though they call RJ100) last week and want to know the reg. number of the one that crashed?
Anyone know a way to find past aircraft landings data that includes aircraft reg.#'s?
Thanks, Nondo
