The following information has been taken from the Aviatsiya group, and I have left it unedited as it appeared on there as I don't have time to write it up for these forums.
Firstly, whilst myself and a friend were chatting he came across this snippet of information:
"Kyrgyzstan Airlines has signed LoU with ILFC for 2 Boeing 757-200ER
aircraft. The first aircraft to be delivered 10 FEB 2003. The aircraft will be operated on Bishkek-Birmingham-Bishkek".
I then posted this
Howdy Andy and all
Whilst I don't doubt this news isn't accurate, this certainly throws a
spanner into the works regarding the Kyrgyz airline industry.
A couple of days ago someone on another forum asked about the airlines of
Kyrgyzstan and in doing some checking on these various airlines, I came up
with the following information. Anyone who has further information or
answers to the questions I pose, please feel free to jump in......
OK, here goes:
The A300 which was leased from Onur Air and was being operated by Kyrgyz Air has now, from all reports, been returned to Onur Air. Kyrgyz Air is now
reported to be operating a MD-83 on the FRU-MOW route at flight KT601. The
flights haven't yet started. Question: Does anyone know where this MD-83 is
coming from? I was thinking maybe Khors Air (Ukraine) but I read only 2 days
ago that their MD-83 has gone to another airline outside of CIS (can't
In doing some background information on Kyrgyz Air, I was told that they
were getting some consultancy work done by a British firm called Aviation
Solutions. After looking at the AvSol website at www.avsol.com I came across
their client list. Yes, it lists Kyrgyz Air, but it also lists a company called Asia Express. Both Kyrgyz Air and Asia Express are displayed with the same code of KT.
Upon checking further, I have been able to find out that Asia Express isn't
a Kyrgyz airline (as I initially thought), but is actually based in Birmingham (their website is www.asiaexpress.aero). Checking with a few enthusiasts in BHX, I was told that Asia Express has advertised for crew locally in Birmingham and the aircraft being mentioned is the 767-300. Original plans for FRU-BHX flights was for the flights to be operated by KIA - Kyrgyzstan International Airlines, which we now know as Kyrgyz Air. Now it is being advertised as a UK-based carrier called Asia Express. The flights were advertised as being BHX-FRU-Amritsar and BHX-FRU-(Another point in India I can't remember now).
I have contacted both Asia Express and AvSol to no avail, so if anyone
(especially UK based members) have further info, can you please share it
But now we have plans by Kyrgyzstan Airlines (R8) to re-commence flights to
BHX. Surely this would have to have a negative effect on any plans by Asia
Express/Kyrgyz Air to start FRU-BHX flights.
Any info/opinions/comments welcome
