Airliners.net Get-Together At The Paris Air Show?

Thu Jan 16, 2003 5:55 am

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone here is interested in an Airliners.net get-together at the 2003 Paris Air Show? AFAIK, the public dates this year are the 21st and 22nd June.

Paris is very accessible from much of Europe with the Low Cost Airlines.

Anyone interested? Ideas? Suggestions?

Hi there,

In the summer I may be moving to AMS, so in the meantime I may be able to catch a free flight down to CDG using my dads company, and if I can I wouldn't mind meeting up with you guys (maybe share a hotel room???).

Cheers,

Dan

Okay since the reception so far hasn’t been too bad, I’ll throw one more question. If you were to go, on what day would it be? Saturday or Sunday? I believe Saturday is sometimes better but am not sure?

Put me on the list of "If I can,. I will."

I'll try and track cheap fares that let me come for the weekend and nail something down.  Smile I've always wanted to do the Paris Air Show...

Hmmm...a big spotting trip to Europe with a good buddy of mine is in order for sometime during June. I just have to precise which dates...and the thought of the Paris Air Show just may play a roll!

Not quite sure of my schedule for June yet, but if things are clear then I would definitely be interested.

Airways: I am also planning to stay at Paris overnight, maybe we can agree on one hotel, than we can have a beer at the hotel bar in the evening and discuss about the show.

B747-437B: It would be nice to meet you there, I hope you can arrange a visit to the Paris Air Show.

Sabena332: Good Idea! But do you know some hotels in the area? I have never been at the show, don't know where's the best place to stay there. Furthermore, I think the hotels will be pretty full during the show.

Michael, unfortunately I do not know any hotel in the area because I have never visited the Paris Air Show or the city. During the last two years I flew 8 times to Paris but only for transfer at CDG Big grin. But no problem, finding a hotel is very easy but we should hurry up because I can imagine that many hotels are booked out during the air show.

By no mean would I want to miss the Paris Air Show (esp with my parents living in Paris, and myself just 3 hours away!)

So, a A.net meeting on the saturday would be cool

Plenty of nice responses! Big grin

Does anyone here know how easy it is to get from Paris-Orly to the airshow? Would also be good to have information about getting from CDG for other people.

BDRules,

It is being held at Le Bourget.

The airshow is held at Le Bourget airport which is more or less between the city and Charles de Gaulle airport.

I personally hope to do a day return from Geneva (be it flying easyJet or going by TGV, despite being an aviation enthusiast I’d kind of prefer the latter having never taken it)

As for hotels, if you are on a really tiny budget, Formule 1 hotels might be worth checking out. €26 per room for up to three people but you must share a bathroom. There are a good few in the Paris area and reading on Travel Forums, they are apparently very good.

Ibis hotels are also pretty good and cheap.

Legalman,

The Paris Air Show is on from the 15th to the 22nd of June. I presume the public days are the 2 last, the 21st and 22nd.

haha I was booking my travel to CDG, either from SFO or LAX. Economy wasn't bad @ $500 each, US.

Business was, wait for it, $9,000. each!

Damn, guess I will be riding in coach unless I can catch a ride on one of the Boeing aircraft (crossing my fingers).

Clickhappy, What airline are you getting $500 from out of LA or SFO. From Denver the cheapest I can find is $1,054! Too expensive for me!

Air France. Click around their site, they had all kinds of special deals, but I don't remember if I saw Denver on the list.

Sounds nice, always wanted to go there and Paris is always a very lovely though expensive trip.
I only know ILA in Berlin-Diepensee and Duxford/UK, and it's about time to visit a greater spectacle now.
So if there are no objections, count me in (subject to cancellation by job, as usual).

To go to Le Bourget from Orly and CDG is quite easy. There is an urban train line called RER in Paris (Reseau Express Regional), the north end of it being Roissy CDG Airport. It goes as well near Orly, and there is a direct train (OrlyVAL) between Orly and a station of this line (called Antony).

And fortunately, another station (still on the same line) is Le Bourget. It is not close enough to the airport to go from there to the airshow, but there will be free busses those days.

Hope this enlighten you

We are currently looking for aircraft available for charter flights from various European (or US) cities to LBG. Since 1998, we - two aviaton enthusiasts from germany - have been organized sightseeing flights and similar events. Please contact me for further information or visit www.airevents.de, our website including a contact form to sign in if you are interested in flights to LBG.

Has ne 1 booked their flights yet.

I can not decide if I should fly with an ID ticket on Air France or as a regular passenger on Germanwings. I can imagine that the flights to CDG are very good booked on the weekend of June, 21st and 22nd. The risk is too high that I will not get a seat on the morning flight out of DUS with an ID tix so I think that I will book my Germanwings flight tomorrow.

Hi everyone!

I've just sorted some flights EMA-CDG-EMA on bmiBaby.

I just need somewhere to stay now. Does anyone here have contact info for cheap hotels (F1, Ibis or similar) in the Le Bourget area...or somewhere with good public transport access to the show.

Thanks in anticipation,

JetTrader,

What dates are you flying WW and how much did you get them for? Ibis's and Holiday Inn Expresses are FULL the cheapest so far in Le Bourget area is the Novotel at 112Euros(About £76) RO. It would be easier to fly from EMA on WW but may work out cheaper on BA from BHX

I strongly recommend that you find an hotel in Paris, and come with the combination Metro/RER B (Regional train)
Here is a link to the French Yellow pages in English.
It is free, userfriendly, and you can see the location by clicking on the link "map" and the link "photo"
For some hotels, you will even have a direct link to their web sites.

Sounds like a fantastic idea
I am planning to go travelling in india and thailand this summer, around the end of june, so it could be ideal!
I will have to find out whether or not i could have a stopover in paris on my way to india from the uk for maybe a day or 2.
i had a reasonably pleasent experience with AF the last time i flew with them.

Whatever happens, its gonna be an amazing week by the sounds of it, and even more amazng for me, if i could be there.
