Bye-bye NAA! El Al To Takeover MIA/ORD Routes

Thu Jan 16, 2003 10:49 am

El Al will takeover thier own services to MIA, currently operated by North American Airlines, starting 26 October 2003.

El Al will fly to MIA twice a week on Sundays and Tuesdays with a 777-200, via JFK, providing the world's second largest Israeli diaspora and Jewish community with the only same plane service to Israel.

Schedule:

Tuesday:
LY 001 TLV 0100-0605 JFK 0805-1055 MIA
LY 008 MIA 1905-2105 JFK 2325-1715 TLV

Sunday:
LY 027 TLV 0010-0510 EWR ????-???? MIA
LY 028 MIA 1130-1420 EWR 1520-0840 TLV
*For some reason, the EWR-MIA segment is not in Amadeus nor El Al's own schdule yet (LY's website is showing the return as LY 001 via JFK).

The last time El Al flew thier own aircraft to MIA was for a short period this past summer, before that it was 1996 once a week for 8 weeks.

In addtion, El Al will also takeover the ORD service currently flown by NAA at the same time. ORD will be served on Mondays and Wednesdays with a 777-200 via Newark (LY 027/028).

Yeah I want to get a picture of one as well. No more waiting until I go to JFK or LAX to see them.

It's about time. EL AL should have been in MIA a long time ago. I'm still surprised they can't do three or four weekly nonstop MIA-TLV with a 772. Why can't they do that Mark?

thanks

Thank God!

NAA's 757 is the most cramped seating I've ever experienced in my life! And I'm talking about Buinsess Class!

Obviously I am happy, espcially as someone who has flown this route a few times. It is about time Miami's Jewish community had same plane service to Israel, even if it does stop in New York City. Plus MIA spotters (and ORD spotters too) can now look out for LY 772s.
