But isn't there also a competition for 15 aircraft to replace the airline's A310s? Apparently, the 739 and 321 are being considered for this. It suprises me that AI would pick a narrowbody to replace the 310s, particularly on premium routes to SIN/HKG/KUL/BKK etc, where they are up against stiff competition.
This "air of expectation" is a repeat of a similar exercise not too many years ago . . . let us hope that this Friday, a firm decision will be announced and the future of Air India can begin to crystallise.
There has been too many false starts to this fleet re-equipment exercise.
Whether a fleet of Airbuses or Boeings (in alphabetical order and showing no favouritism) is chosen, it is a good decision.
