So much for not beating a dead horse...

though it remains to be seen whether this is finally a TRUE attempt at open skies... or if it's just AA/BA trying to get ATI again and bringing everything to a halt once they fail to accept the restrictions.... again

I'll believe it when I see a Delta 777 at a LHR gate.

Actually, that may not have to happen for Open Skies to go ahead.

AA/BA would have been required to give up numerous slots and facilities should they have accepted the terms of antitrust immunity. However, if this is truly an Open Skies talks, and not predicated on a tie-up between the AA & BA, then DL may end up having to fend for itself should Heathrow be opened up... meaning you still may not see them at the airfield for a long time to come.

Even if Heathrow does get opened up, its not like there's slots and facilities available for many more carriers. Then all the US carriers will cry foul.

I hope DL isn't stupid enough to hop on the JFK-LHR run. The last thing we need is another carrier to bring down EVERYONE's loads across the board.

If you really believe THAT, then I have a bridge to sell you!  Laugh out loud

JFK-LHR is infamous for it's high-yielding O&D. And since when did USA (and an increasing amount of Euro-airlines) believe in allowing the competition to flourish for the sake of yield preservation? Last I checked... never! Witness NYC-LAX, NYC-MIA, NYC-BOS/WAS, etc.

Yeah, my brain must not be working very well today.

Still, if I were Delta, and I'm not, I'd get Atlanta cooking hot before I took on the other two largest airlines in the world and a handful of others.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
