Air NZ 747-400 To HKG

Tue Jan 28, 2003 5:11 pm

I noticed on the HKIA website that the Air New Zealand times seem to be jumping up and around a bit for this week, and hopped over to the NZ website to take a look. Noticed that aircraft was 744 - a change from the usual 763.

Any reason for the suddenly high demand?! CX already operate ten flights weekly AKL-HKG. Presumably it's something to do with the Chinese New Year but strange that friends say Y is pretty much booked solid through March, even with extra capacity!

Oh, also noticed that only J and Y are offered, no F although I suppose some lucky J class pax will get the F seating.

I think it may be the increased demand for the Chinese new year?

Indeed increased demand for Chinese new year! JAN 28, 29, 30 and Fed 4, 5, and 6 should be 744's!

I was going to post this earlier and forgot.

Are any more CX 744's planned to visit AKL this summer? I think CX117-118 is discontinued from the end of March!? Anyone confirm this? NZ will serve HKG daily year round now!

ZK-NBT: Yes, CX117-8 is scheduled to discontinue from April when Cathay shifts into its Northern Hemisphere summer timetable. I think CX will probably review it for their Northern Hemisphere winter timetable, when demand is strong over Christmas and Chinese New Year's.

B-HXB u read my mind .... Air New Zealand have so far operated ZK-SUI and ZK-SUH to HKG lattly which has been quite good for me (photowise) but im not happy that CX are not putting on any 744s on the CX107/108 route ... i suppose with the A343 CX117/118 route there is no need , Eva air is operating charters every second week to akl on saturdays as well
