Best U.S. Flag Carrier To Europe

Sun Nov 14, 1999 5:53 pm

I plan on doing much travelling to Eurpope this winter and would like to know who has the highest quality service.

I will be jumpseating and will probably be in first class (seating available). Who will I enjoy the most. Does any domestic carrier offer 777 service from JFK?

JFK departure.

Any input would help.

Thanks

Delta Airlines has the most flights to Europe and you will be able to catch 777 flights from ATL, CVG, and probably JFK in the comming year with the 777.

What aircraft type do you fly as pilot? Where are you based?
About 777 domestic flights out of JFK, United might have one to Chicago O'Hare, I think. Go to their website and check the schedules, if you really want to know.
American does not offer any 777 domestic flight out of JFK, I know they plan to fly the 777 to Buenos Aeres sometimes in 2000, and maybe Tokyo.
American and Delta are the best international carriers out of JFK. I always fly American, it's a very good airline.
Have a nice trip.

Pending delivery, American is planning 777 service to London-Heathrow, and Paris-de Gaulle, but unfortunaly not until this Summer. Currently the only 777 service to Europe is on BA to either LHR, LGW, or MAN.

If you don't mind flying out of EWR (just across the bridge), you can have a great choice of 777 flights, on UA to LHR, and on CO to most European destinations.

There are no 777 domestic flight's from JFK at this time. You can fly JFK-CDG 2x daily on AF. BA flies 1x to LGW daily, and 2x weekly to LHR with 777s. Egypt Air has 3 weekly 777 flight's to Cairo. Kuwait also has 3 weekly flights to LHR, and on to Kuwait. Future 777 operations are rumored to be American, Delta, and maybe Air Europe. United and Aeroflot at one time flew 777s on certain routes, so they may return at any time.

I think the reference to 'domestic airlines that operate 777s' means US carriers that fly the "T7" to Europe. Avoid Delta, they still only have two in the whole fleet. If it's a 777 you want, fly United or Continental (I think CO have better service). If it's good service you want, use American, Continental or USAirways (especially once the A330s arrive). With Delta you'll be on a TriStar or a boring old 767 and their executive first thingy isn't that hot apparently.

Sounds like a good trip - whoever you fly with, first class is pretty cool (except Olympic).
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

If you want to fly the 777 to Europe, your best bet is to go to Newark. Continental's 777 fleet is quickly expanding. Also United and British Airways use the 777 to Heathrow, and soon Air France will switch to the 777 to Paris. As far as service goes, I think Continental is the best.

Delta has'nt flown tristars to europe in over two years.
If you are flying out of JFK all flights are 767-300er a/c
and are configured with business elite seats up front,
they have a 60" pitch and are very comfortable.I have always flown delta To europe because they fly to the most cities and the service is very good.

United, Then AA, DL, Last NW

Mon Nov 15, 1999 8:04 am

I feel that UA has the best service of any US carrier to Europe. 90% of all their equipment to it are 777s. Most of the 777s have PTVs in every class, and all the 767s have PTVs in every class also. In addition, there should be quite a few 777s w/the First Suite.

I've been on AA, DL, NW, and UA to Europe. I've been to London on all of em, and I've been on UA to Zurich in addition. AA is OK, DL is subpar, UA is above average, and NW just bloody awful. All had printed dinner menus except NW. On UA, I received great food with a delicious gourment lemon meringue tart for dessert, and everyone also received gifts from places like the Body Shop, in addition to the free PTV use (whereas on AA you have to pay for PTV on the A300) -- this is all in Economy. I also received steak on United in economy. UA comes around the cabin with hot refresher towels, OJ/Coffee/Water, and candy bars several times throughout the flight. The service is *markedly* different from UA domestic service, BTW. On AA, DL, and especially NW, I didn't find much difference between their domestic and int'l service.

At one time or another, United flew 777s from JFK-SFO, but maybe that's completely arbitrary to the airline. Out of JFK, United only has token domestic and international service. In addition to the most cross country flights out of JFK, United serves NRT daily with 744s (yyay-yeaah), and LHR 3x daily with 767s, Caracas with 757s, San Juan with 757s, and Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires with 777s.

JETPILOT, UA flies 744s from IAD to LHR (1x) and FRA (1x) and from ORD to FRA (1x). UA's 744s are immaculate.

FYI, 777 Count

Mon Nov 15, 1999 8:08 am

By the end of the year:
- UA will have 40 or more 777s
- CO will have 14
- AA will have 10
- DL will have 5 or more

*Most of UA's 777s are used to Europe, so you'll have the best chance on getting on a B777 by far if you fly UA.

I know you want a 777, but TWA has really good service to Europe. It's seems like a totally different company from the domestic TWA.......difference are like night and day

Sorry I misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking for 777 domestic flights out of JFK, but you actually were asking what airline(s) has/have 777 flights to Europe out of JFK.
I know other people have answered you already but I'll summarize it quickly for you:
Right now American doesn't have any 777 flight yet to Europe from JFK. Neither does Delta.
I think British Airways does.
Out of Newark, United has a 777 flight to London Heathrow and Continental also has a few. I beleive that Continental flies 777 to Paris from Newark.

Now I have answered your question, I think.
