Pepsi To Be PIA's Official Drink

Thu Jan 30, 2003 9:05 pm

Pepsi Cola and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) signed an agreement on Wednesday to jointly undertake promotional and brand activities.

The agreement was signed by N D Nicoles, Franchise Vice-President, Pepsi Cola International, and Ahmed Saeed, Managing Director, PIA. Sarfaraz Rehman, Country Head, Pepsi Cola, and Asif Khan, Head of Sales Development, Pepsi Cola, were also present on the occasion, along with the PIA Board of Directors.

According to the agreement, effective February 16, 2003, Pepsi has been declared the official drink by PIA, which will be served on board all its domestic and international flights.

The two companies will also be involved in all other joint promotional activities.

Nicoles on this occasion said, "We are delighted today, and hope that the Pepsi-PIA relationship in the form of this agreement will continue for many years to come. Today's agreement is a continuation of Pepsi's already long relationship with PIA."

Pepsi is the global partner of ICC for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 and is the only beverage company to be associated with Cricket World Cup 2003.

this is globalization at its worst..its a shame they cant have some indigenous beverage to be more representative of the local culture... Hey what do I know, ive never been to Pakistan..maybe Pepsi is rampant in all parts of the country!
The US is not the sole super power..Pepsi and Coke are, also!

P.S. I love it when i go to Mexico and when I am thirsty, they have all kinds if tasty, refreshing and colorful soft drinks to choose from.. they are actually starting to import some of these to the States.
If i fly PIA, I am going to have a hot cup of tea(with milk), an impositional request on any US carrier.

Oh whatever. Who the hell cares.....I have always wondered if United uses Charmin as its sole supplier of TP on all domestic flights.

globalization at its worst? or best?

If you're gonna make them use only indigenous beverages, why not use only indigenous aircraft as well? Then I guess PIA would have to shut down since Pakistan does not build its own aircraft.

Whether Pepsi is the official drink of PIA is really completely, absolutely inconsequential.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Well, if its globalization you are against, then PIA should not be flying either Boeing or Airbus aircraft. Why don't they just fly a Pakistani built jetliner?
