Comments On My Artwork, Please?

Tue Feb 04, 2003 12:39 am

Greetings to all Airliners.net members and airline enthusiasts! I have just completed an update of my website, www.jandersonart.com, and I would like to solicit some reviews of my current aviation art from among those who are knowledgeable and interested in aviation.
I am still working on a number of projects, including hopefully some limited-edition prints depicting aircraft from AirTran, jetBlue, Northwest Airlink, United Express, and Frontier Airlines, along with various other ideas. Any suggestions for new ideas are welcome, as well as your thoughts on how I might improve my work. And of course, anyone interested in an original painting of a special aircraft may feel free to contact me!

Thanks to all,

Jerry

Good stuff.

You were wise to include modern aircraft as well... too many artists focus solely on classic/past models, which though interesting, are rather trite.

I especially love the (sold  Sad) NW 727!

Very nice work. I'm also a painter myself. The hardest part of painting realistically is capturing the effects of light/dark on the subject. Are you working in oils or acrylic? An effective painter always wants to pull the viewer into the work. hint- work BIG.

I think you have captured aviation's heritage quite admirably! Fantastic work and thanks for sharing it with us here at a.net!

Very impressive! I can only draw cartoons, I wish I had the ability to capture real life the way that you can. If I had a few extra bucks, I would definitely buy your Career Summary Retirement painting.

I especially like the Navy jet (A-6?) approaching the carrier. The deployed spoilers are what makes the picture exciting.

Great stuff! I really like the USAirways one, showing all the paint schemes over the years, "Team Effort" is great, as is "Approach To Minimums". "Scenic Route" is awesome as well! Great job!

BTW, I see you're new to A.net- Welcome!  Smile

Thanks for all of the encouraging remarks! I work exclusively in oils, and I have many ideas for future paintings spanning the entire history of aviation, including airliners, military, and small aircraft. I will post when new prints become available.
Right now I am at work on a painting of a Kreutzer Trimotor sitting in front of the Winslow, AZ terminal circa 1931. I prefer the older aircraft foe the ground scenes, as the smaller scale of the aircraft, buildings, and vehicles allow for greater use of human figures. Todays huge aircraft and steel/concrete/glass terminals with protruding jetways just seem to clutter the picture from an artistic point of view.
Thanks for the welcome to Airliners.net. I look forward to participating in the discussions!
