on ATA rotators to the mid-east there is usually no alcohol served. Sometimes there is until the last stop before Saudi, usually Aviano or Crete.
Shannon, Irelandis a big ops stop point where we can buy and drink beer
Headsets are free and in the seat rests. IN Saudi, ATA pays the Air Force $500 to have us clean the jet on the ramp, since they dont have folks to do it.
It is a good way to make cash for squadron functions.
Service is kinda dependent on crews. My last trip east bound in August, the first meal was awesome, then we didn't get to eat again for 15 hours and that final meal 'sucked' for lack of a better word.
Coming home in December there was a fuel strike in Larnaca, Cyrpus so we got stuck for 5 hours. These are things I would hope they new 3 hours before taking off from Saudi. In this case we did get to exit.
Usually in Shannon we always get off for about 2 hours which is outstanding.
Coming home on dedicted airlift we like to stop and work our customs in Bangor, Maine, they are very easy to work with.
