TWA's Fleet And Future.

Tue Nov 16, 1999 7:19 am

I am a big TWA fan and was wondering if anyone has more specific information on their current fleet and future fleet. I know that they have a huge order of 717's, and also A-318/A-320 orders, but what are we to expect besides those aircraft such as widebody aircraft? TWA's route structure is growing and obviously 767's wont cut it for too much longer. My last question is, what is their current fleet size as of now? I know they have about 100 MD-80 series aircraft, and 30 or so 757's. As for 727's, DC-9's, and 767's what is there fleet size? Thanks for any input.

I'm not sure how many 767-300's they have, I know they have 12 767-200/ER's. N601TW-N612TW.

Hope this helps!

I am not sure how many 767's they have either, but I doubt they will get anything much bigger for quite some time. The 767 has the range to do most of their present routes and even the STL-NRT route....and they can sell less seats and still make a profit. I heard they are dropping some European cities anyway. I think Lisbon will be dropped.

Yes you are correct they are going to be dropping Lisbon soon.
And they are getting new 767-300s. But the last one they had (the one my Mom was on) and got delayed, so they may not work but twa is getting more 763s.
and twas fleet stats

135 DC-9
33 727s
22 757s
unknown amount of md80
and 18 767!!
there you go

TWA A330 Order

Tue Nov 16, 1999 10:04 am

Flight International's "World Airliner Census" a couple of weeks ago still lists TWAs order for 10 RR powered A330s (this order is over 10 years old) Still on the books but no confirmed delivery dates - I rekon another couple of years when the airline's in the clear these orders will be confirmed and they'll finally take delivery!!!

NW's order for 16 A330s is still valid too!

TWA moves have been strange: A318 AND B717, more B767 AND A330 in order. This is strange!

I believe TWA will cancel the A330 order (they are right now receiving brand-new B767 if I'm not mistaken). About the A320 order, I have not idea of what will happen.

It's sad they will leave Lisbon. It's a historical destin for them (53 years ago, it was the first destin in Europe a TWA plane reached).
