Spotting Sites At MAN

Fri Feb 07, 2003 5:58 am

I've just had an e-mail from a guy who is visiting MAN from Belgium.
Basically he says that he rang the hotel he is staying at (Curzon House) and they say that the "spotting places" at MAN are closed due to safety reasons. No idea where they are referring to but does anyone know anything about anywhere being closed? I've not been for a while but I'd expect some MAJOR discussion in here if any of it were true!

Can someone just confirm that nowhere is or is going to be closed?

I hope this isn't true...

I'm coming over to MAN for one day this summer.

Nothing on the yahoo group of the civil spotters, and nothing on airliners.net...

Regards
Frederic

This is why I don't think there is any truth to it. MAN is one of the most visited airports by enthusiasts, its in discussions on here very often and if there was even the slightest chance of anything closing I think we'd hear about it very soon. Need to be 100% sure though before I go telling people theres no truth to it!

The viewing park and Airport Pub were still open when I was positioning a 763 up to Manchester last week....

I think if they had been closed you would have heard plenty about it on here. Also the area outside the perimeter fence near the 24L threshold is a good spotting place and off airport limits so that can never be "closed" in theory...
I used to love the smell of Jet-A in the morning...
