Recent Trip To JFK, Spottings

Sun Feb 09, 2003 12:00 am

Recently I connected through JFK from Aeroflot to B6 and this is what I spotted.

A British Airways 757 (what was that doing there, I thought jfk was 767s and 747s and of course Concorde)
A British Airways Concorde
Two LY 744s, one of which has been parked at JFK for 1 week, it's been at the same space since I left the U.S.A.
A lot of B6 A320s
A Aeroflot 767-300
A Varig MD-11
A South African 747-400.
I might have seen more, just don't remember.
Questions: What was that LY 744 doing there? What was the Ba 752 doing there?
What now?

Hello,
Every once in awhile i'll see BA 757's. Mabye it's a backup on the MAN route for low bookings? Regarding LY, they always have more than 1 aircraft here. It might be the fact that they do not operate on Friday's (And Saturday's?).

I doubt that you saw a BA 757, more than likely it was North American airlines. As for EL AL, they have many long layovers between flights, and of course no flights from late Friday, into early Saturday. You most likely saw two different 747's, though they were parked in the same place. Here is a pic of the NA 757, looks very similar to BA:

Flyguy,
BA has operated B757's to JFK in the past, so it's likely that what he saw was correct.

BA hasnt flown 757's into JFK for years...
Either way, if he enjoyed his visit to JFK, thats what matters.
