First Flight Of Midwest 717

Tue Feb 11, 2003 11:37 pm

The first 717 for Midwest (N902ME) took the skies yesterday at LGB.

Boeing flight 116 took off at 1400 hrs enroute to Palmdale for a 3hr 40min test flight returning to LGB at approx. 1740.

Terrific news! Hope many more 717s will be flying around soon. With fuel prices going up majorly, maybe more carriers will take a second look at the 717.
Slightly off topic here, I was curious why N901ME wasn't use for Midwest's first 717, so I search FAA registration database and came up with a.....BEM JAN MTE-1, a single-engine fixed-wing aircraft, as having N901ME. Okay, so does anyone here know what the heck that aircraft is? Regards.

Man, I guess they want to keep this plane a secret. I haven't seen a release on the Boeing website or anywhere else.

They have officially changed their name. I got my MIDWEST MILES information today, and it had a picture of the 717 in the new Midwest Livery (w/o the eyebrow windows).

Beautiful. I cannot wait to fly on one out of MSY.

Boeing (DAC) will not notify the press of a test flight, only official ceremonies or delivery flights.
