Have You As FA Ever P***** Off A Pax Big Time?

Thu Feb 13, 2003 6:39 am

Hi,

As the topic says have you ever pissed off a passenger on board your flight big time? (being an FA)

Yesterday morning I was doing a GCI - MAN - GCI.
On the way back every pax was on board apart from this one guy. You know one of those strange ones. He came on board and I was really wondering if he had taken any drugs or so. But anyay he said hi and tried to apologize for turning up too late at the gate.
Then he couldn't find a place for his oversized handluggage so I took it of him and stowed it under the seat in row 12 (saab 340). He said down and I closed the door and did my safety demonstration. While we were taxiing to RW24L his mobile phone went off. So I walked down to him and told him off for that as I had allready mentioned a few times that mobiles have to be switched off.

During the flight he asked for a coffee so I gave him a cup and told him that I would pass with coffee in a few minutes. In the mean time he fell asleep. And woke up less than 10 minutes before landing. I was cleaning the rubbish and then he wanted his coffee. I said to him that there was no tome for coffee anymore as we were about to land.

After landing he had to wait till every passenger was off the aircraft because his handluggage was stowed in row 12. And it took even longer as two pax were emtying an over head locker while I was chatting to him.

When he left the aircraft he was really anoyed. But then it was his own fault.
I couldn't give a thing about it actually.

Anyway, have you ever had somthing like this? Let's hear it.

As crew myself, please don't take this the wrong way, but would it have killed you to get the passenger a coffee? It may have made the difference between him getting off annoyed and never flying with your airline again and getting off happy, thinking you had gone out of your way and wanting to fly your airline again.

Customer retention is a huge thing in sales.

Call bells should always be answered promptly......it is the time you dont that you find there is a medical emergency in that seat and you have wasted time.

Only my opinion though.

Jmc777 I see your point there. But as the seatbelt signs were just switched on and I had to secure the cabin. I would not have enough time to do everything. But on the other side, I can't help it that he fell asleep. The pax sitting besides him didn't like the guy ether for some reason.

Jmc777 note that Gr325 was the ONLY FA on board. Besides, as you know only too well, it is dangerous to give coffee during descent. Should the passenger not drink it by touchdown, he will surely spill it. Had Gr given this pap a coffee in the first place the pap would still have fallen asleep over it. So in my opinion Gr did not act irresponsibly.

When I was in business class, I held a glass of water when the plane taking off and also I also held a glass of red wine when the plane touched down. So the liquid won't escape from the glass as i REALLY hate to hear the engine noisy!
