Mesa DCA-ATL Whats Up With It

Thu Feb 13, 2003 3:26 pm

I have heard rumors that Mesa will resume DCA-ATL, The US employees i know said they ran high loads, and they had the GSA contract for the gov'ts city pairs program. Anyone know if/when it will resume?

This would excite me greatly.

I live in downtown DC much of the time... and I hate, hate driving to Dulles to catch flights on UA.

Frequently, I just take DL. But now, I can take Mesa and get UA elite miles.

YAY.

I'm surprised US can't support a mainline operation on this route.

Mesa does fly DCA-Huntsville, so i am sure DCA-ATL would get them more pax even with the nasa guys on that route

Gigneil: why not just get your UA miles on DL? DL still has a FF agreement with UA, so miles on domestic flights by UA and DL can be accumulated on the other's program.

What do you mean. All flights on UAL are good to acquire miles on DL?

I'm not in the Delta FF, but I do acquire United Miles flying on Delta. Anyone know how long this is going to last?

All United domestic flighst are eligible for Skymiles. I have used it to obtain DL miles on UA's BOS-ORD runs. These miles (at least on DL) are good toward Medallion status.

As for a termination to the DL/UA deal, nothing has been announced. Although the two are moving in seperate directions (UA for US; DL for NW and CO), I would still like to see the agreement in place for a while. Especially since I might be moving out to the West Coast in a few years time, and I would still like to stick with SkyTeam (it's a little difficult to get from LAX to SFO on Delta).

The difference is elite base miles.

The UA miles I earn on DL don't count towards by base miles, do they? I am almost positive they don't, but I could be wrong.

They certainly do accrue elite miles on US.

I had no idea that you can earn Skymiles flying on UAL. In this case I wasted over 20.000 miles puting them on SAS account.
