Gulf War & Pan Am - Specific Threats?

Just wondering whether any of you could cast your mind back 12 years or so to the start of the Gulf War.

Can anyone remember whether US airlines were under any specific threat of terrorist action at that time? I vaguely remember my father's company strongly advising against any travel on Pan Am - Xmas 90/91 was spent in Costa Rica, and we had been particularly nervous as PA was the only airline with seats available from London to San Jose (via Miami), at that time.

Did any US airlines such as Pan Am receive specific threats during the Gulf War? Current events have prompted this question.

The world then was very different from the present world situation as there had been a large international coalition...and no, I don't remember any terrorist threats being issued by any organization.... this time around it will be two countries attacking Iraq.
