Singapore Airlines Co-operation With BA/QF

Fri Feb 14, 2003 10:48 pm

Searching for my flight to Tokyo later this year with SQ, I stumbled over various options at their website.
Of course they offered BNE-SIN-NRT return with SQ which was the standard.

But then the third option was BNE-SYD on British Airways operated by Qantas, and SYD-SIN-NRT.
Now I thought this was a little interesting and I didn't realize that SQ had co-operated with BA/QF from the OneWorld Alliance.
What is up with this? I would have thought SQ would cooperate with DJ since Ansett's collapse.

Can anybody help?

Maybe it has to do with the fact that their internet ticketing engine is based on Travelocity.

In addition, QF has more convenient connections with Singapore Airlines - sort of like an unofficial agreement that neither company talks about. And also, QF is a non-low-cost airline.
Anyone can fly, only the best Soar.

Singapore_air,
Thank you for the response, that does make sense now.
And it is true that QF is not a low cost carrier and thus must be more favourable than DJ. I just never realized they would make an unofficial agreement like that  Smile
