Is This Really The Wreck Of The Crashed GF A320?

The caption says: also note fuselage part of A320 c/n 536, former A40-EM of Gulf Air, written off at Abu Dhabi, March 10, 1997

Is this really true? I mean yes, there is the number 536 painted on the fuselage part in the background - but it really doesn't look like a part of an old, written-off aircraft to me, more like an ordinary fuselage part for a new aircraft.

My suggestion: It's not A320 l/n 536, but it's rather the fuselage of A330/A340 l/n 536. What do you think?

The body looks big, but the tail looks rather small for an A330/340
Go big or go home

Well the left fuselage and the tail are definitely parts for a new A320/A321. I'm talking about the right fuselage with l/n 536 painted on it.

I'm guessing but couldn't it be an old picture of the fuselage before the plane was delivered to Gulf Air?

It´s certainly not the wreck of "the" crashed GF 320.

If any, it might be part of the OTHER GF 320 that was lost:

This confusion may be the solution.

The left portion of the fuselage is definitely an A320/A321, the right-side is either a A330/A340 fuselgae section and the tail section suspiciously looks like that one of an A320/321/319.

The right part is definitely NOT part of the Gulf Air A320. It's the rear section of an A330/340. Just compare it to the A32X fuselage on the right: it's clearly bigger than that one. Just compare the two doors, you'll see a clear difference. Also, the one on the right has the windows going slightly upwards relative to the top of the fuselage, something which is very typical of the Airbus widebodies, but is NOT seen on the A32X.

This is indeed number 536, but 536 of the A330/340 line, not of the A320 line.

But then, what would a 330/340 hull do at XFW?

All bodies that fly around as a full Airbus have earlier been to XFW... At least every A320, A330 and A340. The front anb back parts are built there and then the twice-daily Beluga brings them to Toulouse where they are made into an "real Airbus".
When I was at Airbus in Hamburg-Finkenwerder back in 2001 I got to see the first fuselage of the A340-500 and also the first SAS A340 which was later delivered as SE-REA now touring the skies as LN-RKF. It's cool that they add a sticker to every part they produce so you can always tell what airline that piece of plane will serve in the future.

Btw: How about a HLX flight to HAM with a tour at Airbus and then go home again... Just an idea...

If those are parts for Gulf Airbuses, why do they have N numbers (US registrations) painted on the fuselauge???

I understand this N stands just for the number of the aircraft.

At this early stage, the only registration would be a preliminary German D or French F.

Hey, please let me first return from IST, LED and STN, then we can talk about future projects  Nuts

Sorry to burst your bubble L-188 but just because there is a N mentioned it does not mean its the reg !!

Thats the construction number and I would guess its for c/n 536 a Emirates A330-200.

The moderators should be advised of this and his wording changed

I also think that those N-numbers have nothing to do with a reg. As mentioned earlier they would either be D-xxx or F-xxx and besides that you don't add a license-plate if you buy a new tire for your car to identify it as part of your vehicle. At this point these parts are just pieces that later join together to be a plane which then get's the reg.
When I was at XFW I saw the planes carry a reg. as soon as they were moved around on their own landing gear.

Well I was thinking about this tour also in between of my MAD, ARN, NCE, MAN and IST flights, so no excuse  Laugh out loud

The fuselage to the the right is definitely not a part of the A320 A40-EM from Gulf Air. It is the aft section for a A330-200 (cn 536)for Emirates, which is to be delivered on the 1st of June, 2003.
