Trans Caribbean Airlines--MSY--is This For Real?

Thu Feb 27, 2003 1:16 am

Talking to a friend of mine in New Orleans and we were wondering if anyone knew anything about this.

Trans Caribbean Airlines plans new service from MSY to two carribean destinations and then later on in the year, service to Brussles with 747s.

We both think this sounds kinda questionable.

TCA is real. They have opened up an office in Baton Rouge on the airport grounds. They plan to begin service in April, with 737's to the Caribbean. The 747's will start flying in July, with one-stop, direct MSY-BRU service via CUR and/or SXM depending on the day of the week. The flights also could go nonstop to BRU. They want to fly to BTR too I believe. Go on the website (flytca.com) and you can find their phone number at their BTR office. When I called them, the lady was very helpful.

found this quote in one of the links:

"Starting July 4 TCA wants to expand their services with direct flights between St. Maarten, Curaçao and the European city Brussels. The DCA will do this with the Boeing 747 aircrafts (400 seats). The airline still needs to obtain the necessary permits."

hum.

operating authorities don't come overnight.......

you still have to have operating authority on the route, be it the operating airline or wet lessor... *someone* has to tell the DOT what they are doing and if any special approvals are needed....
