About the fog- I live in Utica, and my show @ DTW
was 0400, and until I hit Merriman Road, there was nothing but a small patch on I-75... then all the sudden, the fog was so thick you could have packed it like a snowball and thrown it..
The flight that got diverted to FNT was due in from Cozumel at 12:15am, but was delayed in the first place, and could not land. The condidions were so bad they had to do an emergency ascent from about 200ft from the ground, as they could not see it..
The flight that got diverted to CLE
was due in from Acapulco at 3:00am, circled for a bit, then finally got clearance to divert to CLE
I talked to the Aero LLoyd Rep (Our A321 is leased from Aero LLoyd) and he told us that the planes (A320 and A321) CAN
land without visibility, by computer, but none of our pilots are trained in those systems. Why, I dunno.. but that is what I know now..
As for my flight on saturday morning, well, we did not leave till after 1pm.. We are STILL reeling from this, as the planes, right now, are basically going NON-STOP to catch up.. I was ready reserve for the afternoon Cancun flight today, show at 3:25pm.. I got called, show was at 5:20pm.. then 7:30 pm.. I just got home a little while ago.. It's nuts right now..
Anyway, any questions, feel free to ask..
