Do Delta 727s Look Old Or What?

Sat Nov 20, 1999 9:22 am

I flew on a delta 727 in the summer. It's reg. was N493DA. It was the oldest looking plane in the world. Even their 727s in the new colors look old. What do you think?

I think that DL's 727's in the new paint job look wonderful. They look clean, new, efficient, and professional, and are a great improvement to the looks of the 727. Just last Sunday when I was out at SMF (Sacramento, CA) looking at planes, I was elated to see a DL 727-200 rego. N1--WA...it looked GREAT!

Personally, I think DL's 27's are really nice and spacious inside. I'd hate to see them go. The 727 is a great airplane. Loud, but great.

I love Delta's new colors, much better than the old ones! I saw a few of their newly painted 727's this summer and it looked like they had bad paint jobs, the paint was peeling off around the cockpit! Otherwise, I think the new color scheme looks great!

Delta 727's look good whether they wear the old or the new scheme. They have always looked good. I've been on a Delta 727 once, it was a Shuttle flight from NY La Guardia to DC National. It didn't look that old, the seats were leather dark blue. That was 1997, the aircraft I was on still had the old scheme.

I was on a DL 727 also this summer, REG# N297WA. It was in the new colors, and the interior was very clean. It was one of the nicest 727's I've ever been on. It wasn't too loud either. LONG LIVE THE B727!

I think the ones in thier old livery look old, but the ones that have newly been painted look real good in my opinion!

I flew round trip ORD-JFK on Delta's 727-200 earlier this summer. Yes, while it looked very old and used from outside, inside of it I've got impression I was in well maintained aircraft.

Actually, after seeing it from the outside, I was pleasently surprised on board. I did like their brown interior.

In a way it reminded me of the classic looking train coaches in Europe; like the Orient Express enterior, you could see in episodeds with inspector Poaro

Needles to say, flight in 727-200 is one of the most enjoyable experiances. Aproaching JFK in that bird -- from the east, flying over the airport to the sea, and then making 180 degree turn -- is one of the most beautiful experiences in flying.

Going westbound (return trip to ORD), turns above Michigan city were as well mesmorising.

Give me choice of flying on Delta's 727s or some other aircraft, I'd have to think carefully to make a choice...

I hope they keep on maintaining them as well as they have done so far, and not replace them with something new.

I flew on N493DA on 5/10/75 from ATL to CLT, so I'm sure it is pretty old now. But most Delta 727s I fly on now don't look that old inside. I'm sure as they get around to changing the interiors they will look much better. They have already done that with the aircraft that they moved to the shuttle, and they look great. I flew on a United 727 in the spring, and that really looked old inside.
