Yeah, TBIT is quite a packed terminal. It's just a massive place with 75% of international traffic going through there. Just lines and lines of counters.
I don't know if this will happen, but I know that LAX
is looking into building a new terminal on the West end of the airport, which is on the outermost perimiter on the beach. They want to build a West Terminal there with parking garages and a people mover going from there, to the TBIT.
They are having problems with the TBIT because it has like 33 airlines there and only 10 gates! That's the whole point of the Remote Gates... when TBIT gets packed or flights are late and the gate isn't empty, they just put the waiting aircraft in the Remote Gates and bus the people to the Immigration area. So I know that they'd like to have a bigger International Terminal.
