Tue Mar 04, 2003 1:07 am

Why do some freighters keep their windows and others do not?

The windows are in fact installed but are covered and painted over.

Some freighters were build purely as freighters, while others were converted from older passenger carrying aircraft, hence the painted over windows on some planes.

Yeah I often wondered about that too, in fact I was going to post a topic asking the same question sooner or later.

That's why on some converted freighters you can see bits of the windows because of the paint wearing off.

Some smaller freighter are flying passengers during the daytime and freight during the night when they stand idle anyway. But the seats suffers from being pulled in and out that often. To protect the walls and windows, hard plastic coverings are placed into the cabin.
