More Good News At United

Tue Mar 04, 2003 2:15 pm

Heard on the flight-ops hotline in Denver that the DOT ranked United #1 again in January, with 88% on-time :14. Second place, Southwest (they were 86% or so).

As far as money goes, United's new ~40% off sale from walk-up fares out of Chicago/O'Hare and Denver is bringing in an additional $20-25 million per month. And, we all know, the sale of seven 747-400s will to Thai Airways International will earn the company an additional $300 million dollars.

This should prove helpful in the coming months, hopefully more good news is on the way.

I sure hope so... I've got an important trip on March 19th, and they um... better be in existence.

The entire staff of my school's newspaper is doing a trip to New York on the very same day, and I don't think they'd like it if they showed up to the gate and found their 767 repossessed.

Whatever happens to UAL, I'm sure they'll still be around on March 19th.

Getting back to business. Good news! UAL staff will pull the airline through.

If they really keep up the good service, the concessions, and try a little harder, UAL will be around long after 19 March, 2003. They can do it. Renegotiate those "high" leases, drop a few more inefficient routes and aircraft, they will not need to split the company into an LCC. They will be a better "full service LCC." (Not that AA didn't already announce that today. AA is now a LCC carrier, see what marketing can do (press announcement) stock up over 13% today, the problems are over, load factors up. It is all in the marketing.)

Good on UA, good news in these times is always refreshing. Bf

I missed out on that bit of news (in regards to AA). When did they announce they were a LCC and is there a web site where I can view this info. Interesting times we are living in.

UA also ranked the 3rd least in complaints!

What an improvement! It was only behind Southwest and Alaska.

Yes, Its amazing how when ever there are good stories to report about UA. The same internet sources throw out a negative story.

A little less Hooah, and a little more Dooah.

You cant control that, but you can control how you work and do your part for the better which the UAL employees seem to be doing, so good for them

What I mean is look at the Airliners.net newsletter for today and there are lots of positive articles about UAL only one negative. That article isn't even the one that they chose to harp on in this forum. But some quicky little article from yahoo news gets read as Gospel truth from GOD.

Is Glen Tilton the right man for the job? Do you think the unions will help him (and themselves) out?

AA did not announce they are a low fare carrier, they simply announced that they are starting an ad campaign to show how they are price competitive with low cost carriers.

Firings, if well done, are good for employee morale.
