Boeing to provide strong customer support package to PIA

The Boeing company will provide a very strong customer support to ensure maintenance of the state-of-the-art Boeing 777 - LR and ER versions ordered by Pakistan International Airlines for induction in its fleet.

This was stated by the Director, International Sales, Miguel Santos, and Communications Manager, Boeing Company, Lewis B.Beninson, at a briefing here on Friday afternoon.

Santos said even otherwise the PIA had a very strong engineering base and highly efficient and trained engineering staff whose talents would be further honed to look after the high tech Boeing 777s.

He said he felt safe flying PIA. "Do not underestimate your own airline," he told a questioner. He said he was a regular visitor to Pakistan and this was his 50th trip to this country.

He said under the customer support Boeing people in Pakistan would train package, at least 300 PIA engineers and technicians and some would be sent to the Boeing Company in the United States.

He said that although under the agreement, the first three aircraft would be delivered one each in January, February and March 2004, the delivery date could be advanced if so desired by the national carrier.
