B6 are receiving 2 A320's per month to my current knowledge, but that is old information (has to be a few months old), so maybe someone can update us on that. B6
wants Airbus to research what is known as the A320-500 series. The aircraft will basically be a lengthened A320. I think their point of view in this is that they do not want the capacity of the A320, but rather something with a few more seats and more range than an A320-200. More range? This is something that has posed a question in my mind too as they are able to complete JFK
which is a pretty long haul for an A320. The only reasoning I could see in giving it extended range is that less stress would be put on the aircraft in that you can distibute the fuel to another tank within the aircraft instead of having the wings full to the brim, and if needed can extend their routes to some destinations in Canada and Mexico. I haven't heard anything on this issue as of recent though.
