Aviation Movies Inc.(good One On Tonight March5)

Thu Mar 06, 2003 7:19 am

I realize this thread came up in 9-02.

But just in case some of you are interested:

Flight of the Phoenix is on tonight at 8 PM EST (time in NY)

It will be on the AMC channel (American Movie Classics)

Just rented Airplane! in order to show it to another airliners.net member.

Name other great movies. I am hoping to see MayDay @40000 one day.

peace, mirrodie

Skyjacked with Chuck Heston, Yvette Mimieux, and Rosie Greer made in 1972. The movie uses a World 707C. Great movie with plenty of real 707 action. No model airplanes in this one. It is available on VHS.

Oh...I don't know.....

how about Airport? that ones pretty decent  Wink/being sarcastic

Another one I like that many people hated was Pushing Tin, mostly for all the cool aviation shots (real and digital) as well as the fact that John Cusack is one of my favorite actors.

I have all the above movies mentioned (save for 'Mayday') on VHS or DVD.

I just wish I could get a hold of one of the most sought after avition/airliner movies, "The High and the Mighty" with John Wayne. Some say this is very possibly the most accurate aviation move ever made, though it was made almost 50 years ago. I was fortunate enough to see several years (80s) back when it was shown on cable but has yet to been aired since nor will the Wayne estate release it for video.

Did anyone watch The Dead Zone on sunday? It was about the plane blowing up...not that cool, but it was a good episode. I like the movie Turbulence even though it was kinda unrealistic.-Brett
