Delta Shuttle At EWR?

Thu Mar 06, 2003 12:49 pm

Hi guys

I was driving w/ my parents past EWR today and among some exciting views of some great planes, I noticed a Delta Shuttle Boeing 737-800 at Terminal B.

This is not the first time I have seen shuttle planes at EWR.... so I question- What is going on? Are these just substitutes for CVG flights, or are these the "new" no-longer shuttle planes, and the shuttle title has not been removed?

I have nothing new to add to H.Simpson's response but I myself was surprised when I boarded a shuttle 738 from atl to ewr 2 months ago. It was operated as a standard delta flight. The only thing different was the boarding anouncement. "No first class service today so we will start boarding rows xx to xx." That was due to the fact that the shuttle aircraft are in a one class configuration. It was on a friday if i remeber correctly(Jan 17 to be exact). I was told that it was to keep the shuttle aircraft busy during the weekend because the demand for the shuttle routes is low. Ironically, we were parked by an ex delta shuttle 727 at atl.

The 737-800's are being pulled of the Shuttle routes and being replaced with B737-300's.
