You have a choice of either Alaska Airlines or ERA aviation. You will probably fly in either a 737-200, DHC-8 or a CV-580

Alaska Airlines flies to Kodiak. ERA Aviation does too. I believe that Ryan Air flies to Kodiak as well (I'm not sure if they are still in business) using 737's. Reeve Aleutian Airlines also flew to Kodiak, but I'm not sure if they still do. Reeve uses 727's and Lockheed Electras from Anchorage and Seattle. Alaska Aeronautical Airlines (AAI) also once flew to Kodiak from Anchorage using DHC-6's, but I think that ERA bought them out. Its been a while since I've been to Kodiak, so I'm not sure how accurate this information is. Hope this helps...

I'm not going to Kodiak!
I have an aviation friend who used to live there.

Reeve hasn't flown to Kodiak since the 1950's, they only go to SEA on contract flights, Ryan Air went out of buisness in the 1980's, mainly because of a crash they had in Homer.

RE: Your Right L188

Your right L188. As for Seattle, RV stopped flying there on a schedule basis back in 1987 or 1988. At that time they were flying Seattle/Cold Bay, and later I think they had a Seattle/King Salmon. Is that correct L188?

RE: Questions For L188

You'd know this one. When I was at RV, I was told that 68R came from Air New Zealand. I was reading a site about the L188 that said it came from Qantas. Which was it? I know that 44C and 42C which was destroyed by the fire came from Western.
Also on the russian flights? Are they nonstop from ANC or do they make a fuel stop in ADK? I have asked Mel this question a dozen times and she usually forgets. Must be all those years catching up to her. Thanks in advance L188.

Keep in mind that I haven't worked for RV in about three years so all of my info dates from back then.........

Depending on winds the Russian flights stop for fuel at Cold Bay(CDB) when heading west, They usually can make the eastbound leg non-stop.

N1968R is and Ex-New Zealand aircraft. If memory serves there is a metal plate on the bottom left of the tailcone that has the original New Zealand Registration number on it. Sorry don't remember it. The plate is aft of the Lav service door.

I hope this helps

RE: Thanks L188

Thanks alot L188. Yes it did help. As I was saying I saw on a site where they said N1968R was a ex Qantas aircraft. I remember Janice R telling me in training that 68R came from NZ and when I pointed this out in the site to the webmaster, he replied with, "Well I should know!" LOL guess he didn't know. Thanks also for the info on the Russia flights. As I said, I keep asking Mel and of course I hear about everything but what I had asked. When you were there, did you know Mary W also?
Again thanks alot.

Yes they did Darrell. Had both nonstops and one stops via Kenai. I also think they had onestops via Homer also. Check with L188 on that one. He knows that better then I.
