The "new" BA Executive Club

Mon Mar 10, 2003 12:11 pm

As you probably are aware of there going to be some changes to the Executive Club, some changes to the better but some really in my opinion stupid changes, you will not get full miles in the discounted Y booking classes (G,K,L,M,N,O,Q,S,V) only 0.25 % now, I think it's only the case with Q class now, the 12 new "Geographicall Zones" is also a not so good thing, before you needed 50 000 miles to get from GOT to US East Coast, with the new system you need 60 000 to go to the whole US, I understand the idea but I still think that US should be divided in one East and West zone. Of course I have to write some positive as well, the feature to upgrade ticket by using mile and also combination of miles and cash to pay for tickets is positive changes. I fly a lot and think FF program is a good idea to get free trips, but since I have to pay for my tickets (most of the time anyway) I sometimes have to settle with discounted Y tickets, I used to fly on BA's M and K to get full miles and even Executive Points in K. I decided to change my business to Air France (done a few transatlantic with them, and there Ok) instead, they offer a better FF program. AF also offers better connection from GOT since BA only flies GOT-MAN now days, I'm getting tired of the GOT-MAN-LHR every time I have to somewhere (I did enjoy to get the extra miles for it, but now when this will "end" nothing motivates me to stay loyal to BA). All the chenges will be from the 1 July 2003.

Why not try KLM's Flying Dutchman - I 'defected' there a few years ago from BA's Exec Club when they ditched Malaysia. I also joined AF Frequence Plus which is not bad but Skyteam's coverage of Southeast Asia and Australia is very poor indeed (for my benefit)

You are right about the poor coverage of Southeast Asia and Australia, the only option is Korean Air if I not mistaken, but I fly most intra-Europe and transatlantic so AF/SkyTeam will be my choice. I do live in Australia at the moment but I will move back to Sweden pretty soon.
