AA Super80 An AA 727

Wanted to know if some of American's original plans were for Super 80's to replace some of the 727 fleet.I say this because the Super80 has about 10 less seats than the 727,putting not to much out of capacity differencies.Or possible was it to replace some of the 727-100's,or us rampers used to call them "stubby's".

The MD80's were originally planned for growth. The B-Scale wages Crandall got were the basis for the massive growth AA experienced during the 80's. The large orders for MD80's allowed for this expansion. 727 phase out was gradual, and not really related to the large influx of MD80's.
Next Up: STL-ATL-CHS-ATL-STL. MD90, MD88, MD88, 738. 3 T-Tails ourt of 4! :biggrin:
