It won't be too crowded in the morning. To pass customs and immigration, well...if you are an European citizen it doesn't take too long but if you are American or other...then it will take a few more minutes as most of the times they don't have all of the passport control windows open, as they should. The terminals are low-celings, there is a smell of smoke and it does look a bit old, but it's a great experience, at least for me, because of the very easy layout of the airport. I wish I were going with you Archie. Iberia, also, well, expect a bit of arrogance, which is normal, but the flight should be ok, don't expect too much on leg-room. As of the old terminals' fate as to when the new ones open up, well I really don't know, because if you think about it, there were extensions that were opened up on T1 and T3
, so I don't expect them, to close having only had these terminal extensions for about 5 years now. I do know that runway 36R/18L will dissappear and become a taxiway as they open up new runways 33R/15L and a new north-south runway parallel to 36L/18R, though I do not know the denomination that it will have.
