What's With All The Traffic Into GGG?

Sun Mar 23, 2003 9:08 am

Can anyone tell me what's with all the traffic into and out of GGG?

I have noticed several different airlines flying in and out of that city with 4 digit flight numbers indicating a ferry or charter. Also many Phoenix Air Service aircraft operating in and out as well. I do know they offer some support to the US Military such as towing targets, etc.

So any ideas what's going on there?

Thanks!

Don't recall exactly where I read it, but I believe it has to do with cycling folks in/out of the region to look for Columbia debris, given that the military is a little tied up right at the moment. The pressing time element involved is to get as much area searched before the folliage and vegitation gets to the point where stuff is more difficult to find.

I'll see if I can find the article...

The only airline that has SCHEDULED service to GGG (here- where I live) is American Eagle.

Maybe they are charters flying in to eat at Johnny Cace's Seafood Restaurant. Definitely food worth landing for.

FYI to all concerned parties: Johnny Cace had three sons. One operates the place in Longview, another son runs Cace's Seafood in Tyler and Number Three operated a similar eatery on the San Antonio Riverwalk until 2001.

So for this great grub, your only choices are now TYR or GGG.
