Bmi already have the rights to fly those routes out of LHR
along with a whole load of others, have done for years now (even when I still worked there).
If this is true, I never understood why it's taken them so long to start up, there are a whole load of destinations they could fly to and no doubt make more money on than the MAN
-US routes. I guess SMB has finally accepted the fact that they ain't going to get open skies to the US for a long time. I'll check it out with my BMi Buddies tomorrow.
They are also going back into handling again at LHR
. They got LOT and are due to get CY
back too. They finally realised that the handling side of the company was where most of the profits came from to keep the airline going, and after failing to buy back what they sold to the Go-Ahead group are starting up themselves again. (They are currently recruiting Customer Service Agents at LHR
if anyone is interested).
