Air Scotland Starts This Weekend :-)

Fri Mar 28, 2003 11:45 pm

This week Air-Scotland.com start flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Mediterranean destinations using 757-200 a.c operated by Electra Airlines of Greece. Rumours have surfaced that they may also be interested in 767s for possible flights to North America.

I like their paintscheme. Do they intend to be a full-service carrier or another LCC?

Good luck for a successful start and a long career! I just wonder if Air Scotland is somewhat related to Highland Express?
Cheers

Good on them, BA & Bmi need a bit of competition in scotland.

My only concern is wether the FAs will be wearing Kilts Big grin 'I wish they all could be caledonian' hehehehhe

Its a nice scheme (shame the blue is only on the tail, if they'd extended it down the fuselage it would've looked better).

But as a another LCC, I don't see them going far, and even if they do I wouldn't regard them as a national airline.

But Imagine that, your national airline being a Lo-Co rofl  Laugh out loud

A few of our 757 pilots have gone to them and they told me Canadian destinations are on the cards for the proposed 767. Toronto / Montreal would be a safe bet. Best of luck to the new airline.

Cannot wait for them to operate from ABZ and then we can get cheaper flights non stop and also their Tartan service ( upgraded service) will be well appreciated. Hope it all works out for them and hope to fly them soon. Three cheers to Air Scotland!!!!!

Listened to one handling agent a fortuitous time....ELD 2614 was giving details of his ETA to GLA, and the number of pax. One trusts that the passenger to cabin crew ratio increases from slightly more than 1 to 1 for future flights!

I hope there will be enough pax for both new Scottish airlines, especially as there appears to be some duplication of routes. One can easily imagine a price war which will lead to "problems" for both.

I take it was at least exeptibley full from GLA to Palma but really poor on the way back? The flight was canceled/delaid on the way back due to a bird hitting it.

EGGD: Well we are rumoured to be tight with giving out cash up here  Laugh out loud

I would think any US destinations would include New York, Orlando and maybe Boston.

What is there inflight service suposed to be? Do they have IFE, the option of meals (like a charter) or are they strictly a LCC with the cabin crew dressed down and everything purchased?
I don't think that a LCC could truly become Scotland's national airline.
